Prior to retirement, Dave spent over 40 years in the skilled nursing field, starting as a housekeeper while in high school at a small nursing home in Dunmore, PA, and eventually serving as President of the largest publicly held nursing home company in the U.S.

Dave attended Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration, graduating in 1984. He also received his MBA in Health Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, in 1986.

Upon completion of his education, Dave became a nursing home administrator in various states, joining The Hillhaven Corporation in 1988. During his tenure with Hillhaven, and in subsequent positions with ManorCare Health Services, Beverly Healthcare, and other companies, he managed multi-state, multi-facility operations ranging in size from a few facilities to several hundred.

Dave is best known for his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Beverly Healthcare, where he was responsible for an operating budget of $2 billion annually and oversaw more than 700 skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. When he departed, Beverly Healthcare had slightly over 400 facilities, yet continued to experience growth in both revenue and earnings, along with improvements in patient care and people management metrics.

For more than a decade, Dave was co-owner of Express Transportation Holdings, LLC, a provider of non-emergency transportation with locations in Milwaukee, Albuquerque, and Kansas City. In addition to his role with Express Transportation, Dave has been an investor, advisor, and Director for Telemedicine Solutions, Inc., a Chicago-based company and creator of WoundRounds™, an easy-to-use technology-enabled solution that improves the process of wound care management in healthcare facilities.

Dave has remained active in the alumni organizations of his alma maters. He served as a member of the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network, interviewing high school students across the Midwest interested in attending Cornell. In 2006, he endowed a Chair at Temple University’s College of Public Health, School of Nursing, in recognition of his mother’s 50 years in nursing. He also served as Chair of the College of Public Health’s Board of Visitors and as a member of the President’s Advisory Board.

In 2012, Dave received Temple’s Distinguished Alumni Award, recognizing his career accomplishments and service to the university, and in 2019, he was recognized as a Centennial Honoree of Temple’s Fox School of Business—one of 100 graduates honored during the School’s first 100 years.

Dave lives in Athens, GA, with his wife, Patrice.
